From Equations to Exploration: My Journey to Wanderoots Lab

For much of my life, I thought freedom was something you earned—through education, hard work, and following the rules. I chased it relentlessly, from my childhood in social services to earning a PhD in turbulence modeling for 3D airplane wings. But somewhere along the way, I realized I was building a life that didn’t belong to me—it was a life others had scripted.

Before graduating, I made a decision that many called reckless, but for me, it was liberation. I closed my bank accounts, threw away my phone, and bought a one-way ticket to Mongolia. I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for, but I knew it wasn’t in lecture halls, corporate offices, or neatly planned futures.

Breaking Away

Mongolia was my first taste of a life unbound. I spent my days volunteering with horses, learning the rhythms of a world dictated by nature rather than schedules. From there, I moved to Malaysia’s rice fields, then to Japan’s oyster farms. Each place stripped away another layer of the person I thought I had to be.

Travel didn’t just show me the world—it forced me to confront myself. I had spent years running: from an abusive relationship, an absent family, and a system that felt hollow. Through travel, I began to rebuild, not as a survivor, but as someone determined to thrive.

An Awakening

When I returned to Europe in 2017, I thought I’d found peace. But instead, I stumbled into an awakening that reshaped everything I believed. The rational, scientific mindset that had guided me for years began to crumble, replaced by a more esoteric, holistic approach to life. I questioned everything: my beliefs, my goals, even my identity.

I created an association that combined my passions—travel, science, sustainability, and personal growth. It felt like my life’s work, but it wasn’t to last. A manipulative partnership cost me everything: my work, my home, even my lab in the forest.

In 2023, I returned to France for the first time in a decade, filled with rage and despair. But I chose to channel those emotions into something transformative. Bodybuilding became my therapy, and hard work became my anchor. A year later, I found myself on a new continent, ready to begin again.

Wanderoots Lab: A New Chapter

This blog is the result of everything I’ve lived through. Wanderoots Lab isn’t just a travel blog—it’s a space for reflection, healing, and exploration. It’s a place where sustainability, adventure, and self-growth intertwine, guided by the lessons I’ve learned on the road and in life.

Through my stories, I hope to inspire others to break free from the boxes they’ve been placed in—to travel not just to see the world, but to discover themselves. Whether you’re drawn to adventure, searching for purpose, or simply looking for a spark of inspiration, I hope Wanderoots Lab can be a part of your journey.

This is the beginning of a new chapter. Thank you for being here.
